Full Day Activities for Schools
Beamish Wild in County Durham is the ideal location for an exciting and educational school day trip. We have a range of activities that incorporate themes of working together, problem-solving, communication, environment, conservation and wildlife in an engaging and fun way.
Team Adventure Day
This event incorporates a number of exciting and fun activities alongside our flagship ‘High Ropes and Low Ropes Adventure Courses’. Perfect for developing team skills and great fun in a truly memorable setting.
A sample programme could include;
· Icebreakers – takes place on arrival on the lawn.
· Low Ropes Development Course – 10 individual challenges that are designed to promote good team-work and development skills.
· Team Challenge Orienteering – fast navigation and problem solving against the clock.
· High Ropes Adventure Course – The ultimate test of a team’s ability! The completion of the course draws upon the skills learned in the previous activities, as the team’s support and encourage each other through this treetop adventure.
Woodland Activity Day
This varied and interesting day has an educational focus and incorporates some of our more traditional activities.
A sample programme could include;
· Nature Detective Trail – a great way to learn about the natural world in the safety of the grounds.
· Archery – learn the ancient art of archery. A great sport for everyone!
· Bushcraft – learn to build shelters and cook in the outdoors under the supervision of our expert staff.
· Birds of Prey Demonstration – learn about these highly interesting birds, experience the thrill of their aerial antics.
Young Explorers Day
Intended to enhance the ‘Learning Outside of the Classroom’ experience for younger pupils, this activity day provides a great opportunity for children to experience the great outdoors in the safety of our self-contained 25 acre site.
A sample programme could include;
· Icebreaker – takes place on arrival on the lawn.
· Nature Detective Trail – learning about the natural world. Worksheets and field study guides provided.
· Problem solving / Teamwork – activities in the outdoor setting with an adventure theme.
· Ground Level Adventure Course – a low level obstacle course designed to develop balance and agility whilst developing teamwork and communication skills.
Themed Activity Days
Our activity packages can be themed to your specific requirements. The day can incorporate any of the activities on offer and can have its own identity, ie; pirates, medieval, science fiction, popular media and movie themes. The specific challenges would be set in the context of the theme of choice.
