The Children’s University is a national organisation offering children and young people aged 7-14 a wide range of high quality activities outside school hours. The focus is on rewarding participation, raising aspirations and encouraging engagement.
Not only is The Children’s University committed to providing a wide range of learning activities outside of school hours, they also like to create an excitement about learning new skills, focussing on supporting children to become confident, independent learners.
To ensure that the Children’s University provide a wide range of high-quality learning activities for children, they look to validate providers of out-of-hours activities as Children’s University Learning Destinations.
Beamish Wild has recently been awarded Learning Destination status. Site Manager Alex Tocu says “this is great for the centre which offers a different experience, our Birds of Prey Centre helps raise awareness of wildlife, conservation issues and species endangerment. Whilst our High Ropes Activity Course challenges children and gives them the opportunity to build confidence and self esteem as well as improving their communication skills.”
Becoming a Learning Destination is a great achievement for Beamish Wild and one that will contribute towards raising the profile of activities in the local area. For further information on the Children’s University contact:
